If you are living in an urban city, you might be missing something that is hard to find in a big bustling city. Yep, green areas and parks full of the beauty of the nature. That may not be the case if you are living in a developed country with good urban planning and development. But that’s not the case down in Jakarta, at least not yet for now. So, here in this blog, as I begin to achieve my dream to travel around places, I will post some pictures of green places where you can relax and enjoy breeze of natural air and hear birds singing within the city full of buildings and vehicles and people.
Why Urban Oasis?
The name of this blog consists of two words: Urban Oasis. Urban is a common term to refer a metro city. As for oasis, Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines oasis as “a pleasant place that is surrounded by something unpleasant”, or “a time or experience that is pleasant and restful”.
What kind of places are posted in this blog?
The main key factor is that the place must have something natural, in contrast to metro cities’ paved roads and high rises. Secondly, it could be a place to relax, away from day-to-day busyness in the city. Be it a park, urban forest, riverside, reservoir, playground, or even a small corner in the street. Last, but not least, it provides something pleasant which is unattainable in the urban city. Oh and one more thing, it must be open for public too.
In which cities would this blog cover?
Ideally, I would like to cover as many big cities as possible. Technically, I am considering areas which is defined as wilayah administrasi kotamadya as urban cities. But since I am now living in Jakarta, and Jakarta is the most crowded city, I started this blog from Jakarta and its neighboring cities. If you know any oasis, please let me know! I would want to visit that place too, and share it with other readers here.
Time to hunt some urban oases!
